Our promise
- HAVAN Member
- 2024 Georgie Award, Best Multiplex Home
Costar assigns a construction manager to each project who coordinates subcontractors, orders materials, and checks completed work against the plans before the next stage starts. The five-stage process (design and planning, pre-construction, construction, handover, and warranty) is documented in full at /about/process, including the specific software, inspection points and paperwork used at each stage.
At handover, the client receives a joint pre-occupancy inspection, an orientation on the home's systems and maintenance, and a project binder with manuals, warranty documents and trade contacts. Costar conducts follow-up inspections at 3, 6 and 12 months after handover to check that systems are working as intended.
Ask your Costar consultant to confirm in writing which licences, insurance coverage and warranty programme apply to your project before you sign a contract. Coverage and certifications can vary by project type and are not restated here as a blanket claim.
Questions
Frequently asked questions about the Costar quality guarantee
What does Costar Construction's quality guarantee cover?
Costar Construction's quality guarantee, in the company's own words, rests on three commitments: a dedicated construction manager who checks completed work against the plans before the next stage starts, a documented handover with a joint pre-occupancy inspection and a project binder, and follow-up inspections at 3, 6 and 12 months after the client moves in. The written contract for each project states which warranty programme applies.
Who checks the quality of work on a Costar Construction project?
Costar Construction assigns a construction manager to each project. The construction manager coordinates the subcontractors, orders the materials, and checks completed work against the drawings before the next stage of construction starts. The construction manager also arranges the plumbing and heating inspections before the walls are closed and the city inspections, and the client can raise concerns at any time during the regular progress updates.
What is a joint pre-occupancy inspection?
A joint pre-occupancy inspection is a walk through the finished home that the client and Costar Construction carry out together before the client moves in. The inspection takes place after the site is cleaned and outstanding items are resolved. Its purpose is to record anything that still needs attention and to give the client an orientation on how the home's systems work and how to maintain them.
What is in the project binder Costar hands over?
The project binder that Costar Construction hands over at the end of a project contains the manuals for the equipment and appliances installed in the home, the warranty documents, and a list of contacts for the tradespeople who worked on the home and for the appliance suppliers. The binder comes with the keys at handover, so the owner has one place to look when something needs service.
When does Costar inspect a home after handover?
Costar Construction inspects a completed home at 3, 6 and 12 months after handover. Each visit checks that the internal and external systems are working as intended, for example the heating, the plumbing, and the outside walls and roof. Costar says that fixes found at these visits are addressed within a few days. These inspections make up the fifth and last stage of Costar's five-stage process.
Which credentials of Costar Construction have been independently verified?
Three claims about Costar Construction were checked against independent records on September 24, 2026. The company is registered in British Columbia as Costar Construction Inc., BC Registry number BC1232230, with active status. Costar is listed in the public member directory of the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN). Its 2024 Georgie Award for Best Multiplex Home, for the project It Takes Two, appears in the CHBA BC winners news release.
How do I confirm the insurance and warranty that apply to my project?
Ask your Costar Construction consultant to confirm in writing, before you sign the contract, which licences, insurance coverage and warranty programme apply to your project. Coverage and certifications can vary by project type, for example between a new custom home and a commercial tenant improvement, so the written contract is the document that states them. Keep a copy with the project binder you receive at handover.
Did Costar Construction win an award for its building work?
Yes. Costar Construction won Best Multiplex Home at the 2024 Georgie Awards, presented by the Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC on May 25, 2024, for the multiplex project It Takes Two, built with associate company Design Work Group Ltd. The winners list is published by CHBA BC. This is the one award recorded in Costar's verified claims ledger.
